With Marquise Goodwin opting out of the 2020 NFL season, John Hightower has a prime opportunity to become a dynamic playmaker and deep weapon for the Philadelphia Eagles.

The former Boise State product didn’t take the five-star route to the NFL and has the versatility to become a unique weapon for quarterback Carson Wentz. If Hightower is anything like the player he patterns his game after, he’ll have no problem adjusting to life in Philadelphia.

Stefon Diggs was a driving force for the powerful Vikings offense and should allow Josh Allen to take the next steps as a passer after the wide receiver was traded to the Buffalo Bills.

During a sitdown with Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia, Hightower hinted at Diggs’s route running as a huge reason for the comparison.

“Stefon Diggs’ routes are phenomenal,” Hightower said. “He makes great cuts, he catches the ball very well. He’s an intelligent player.”

Diggs has been elite against man and zone coverage during his NFL career and is known as one of the top route runners on the planet.

A late-round pick like Diggs, Hightower is from the DMV area and has looked up to Diggs since the NFL wideout was a star at Maryland.

If Hightower can duplicate Diggs’s rookie numbers of 52 catches for 720 yards and four touchdowns, the Eagles could be looking at another deep playoff run.
