The Arizona Cardinals will face a rookie quarterback making his second career start. When the Philadelphia Eagles come to town this week, it will not be Carson Wentz under center. Head coach Doug Pederson announced Monday that Jalen Hurts, who started in Week 14 and led the Eagles to a 24-21 victory over the New Orleans Saints, would again start.
“After going through the film and looking back even to last week and the preparation and everything, I’m going to continue with Jalen this week as the starter,” he said in Monday’s press conference.
Pederson was non-committal on Sunday when he was asked about it immediately after the game. He said he didn’t want to make a quality performance by a number of individuals to be made just about Hurts.
“I was thinking about the rest of the team and how the rest of the team played in the game,” he said. “After looking at the film again, Jalen played well. He was a big part of the success we had on offense and obviously helping us win that football game.”
Against the Saints, Hurts completed 17-of-30 passes for 167 yards and a touchdown. He also added 106 rushing yards on 18 attempts.
