It’s not often that a team gets to draft the player they covet, but in Mel Kiper’s latest mock draft, Howie Roseman finally gets his man.
Mock drafts are hypotheticals, and in this 4.0 version via ESPN.com, the Philadelphia Eagles land the steal of the draft, securing Alabama All-American wide receiver Henry Ruggs III at pick No. 21.
21. Philadelphia Eagles
Henry Ruggs III, WR, Alabama | HighlightsThis pick should be the best wide receiver on their board. Philadelphia doesn’t have many roster holes, but there’s a big one at wideout. And really, if I’m running the Eagles, I would look at trading up a few spots to get my guy. I suspect they’d be thrilled to get Ruggs, who is one of the fastest players in this class and is underrated as a route runner. This is a team that can win the NFC East again.
It’ll likely take a miracle for Ruggs to still be on the board and the mock seems to be Kiper growing tired of the same ole drill at this point, with some huge names dropping out of the first round.
In the second-round, Kiper projected the Eagles to target Jordyn Brooks, a middle linebacker from Texas Tech.
(Thread) #TexasTech LB Jordyn Brooks
One of Kiper's favorite underrated players in this class. Stocky LB and he might be one of the best tacklers in this group. Put this with his closing speed and it gives him two very valuable traits for LBs #NFLDraft pic.twitter.com/C8R1SdAVzv— Tommy (@tmacdraft24) April 10, 2020
Brooks has an incredible motor, which allows him to make plays in space while racking up tackle after tackle.
