With Nick Sirianni now in place as head coach, the Eagles have taken steps to start assembling a coaching staff.
Per Ian Rapoport, the Eagles are interviewing Washington Football Team defensive backs coach Chris Harris for their vacant defensive coordinator job.
Harris spent two-years on the same staff with Sirianni and also played 8 years in the NFL.
This season while coaching the secondary, Washington had 2nd best pass DVOA defense in 2020, and 6th highest graded PFF coverage defense.
Before becoming Washington’s defensive backs coach, Harris served in a variety of coaching roles with the Los Angeles Chargers (2016-19) and Chicago Bears (2013-14).
A former NFL safety, Harris joined the Chargers in 2016 as assistant secondary coach. In 2018, Harris helped develop the first-round pick, Derwin James, into an All-Pro selection and a Pro Bowl starter at safety in his first season.
Second-year defensive back Desmond King earned second-team All-Pro accolades on the strength of three interceptions, including a pick-six while being coached by Harris.
