An undrafted rookie free agent out of Florida Atlantic, Smith originally signed with the Chicago Bears following the 2020 NFL Draft and was cut at the end of Training Camp.
Smith was signed to the Bears practice squad until he was signed to the Cowboys’ active roster.
Smith waived on October 26 before appearing in a game.
