The 2020 NFL season is fast approaching and that means the debate will heat up in regards to who truly is the top quarterback in the NFC East.
Patrick Mahomes is head and shoulders above everyone else as the top signal-caller in the NFL, but the debate about 2-10 just got really intense after Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com released his rankings of the top-10 quarterbacks in the NFL.
In a move that should please Eagles fans while making the debate with the Cowboys even fierier, Carson Wentz landed ahead of Dak Prescott, at No. 8 on the list.
We went into this exercise thinking Wentz vs. Dak Prescott would be tight, but it wasn’t all that close, with Wentz holding a lead of nearly a full point over Prescott. However, Wentz is hardly a slam dunk for many. Some left him off their ballots because of the injuries.
“Such a creator — no play is dead,” an NFL head coach said.
Added an NFL coordinator: “It’s hard to argue he’s not top 10. You just wish he had a complete season. If he wins that Super Bowl in Philly, he’s consensus top five because he’s a top-five talent.”
Wentz had the first 4,000-yard season by a passer in franchise history last season and carried his team to the playoffs by winning four straight NFC East games, including outdueling Prescott in Week 16 at Lincoln Financial Field.
Matthew Stafford landed at No. 10, followed by Prescott who was No. 9, Wentz at eight, Tom Brady was No. 7 and Lamar Jackson landed outside the top-5 at No. 6.
Drew Brees landed in the top-5 followed by Deshaun Watson at No. 4, Aaron Rodger at No. 3, and Russell Wilson landed the No. 2 spot.
