2019 can be considered Carson Wentz’s coming out party, as the Eagles quarterback led his team to another division title and a third straight playoff birth for the franchise.
The Eagles are retooling this offseason, focused on getting Wentz some true deep threats at the wide receiver position, that’ll truly allow the franchise signal-caller to show what he truly can do.
His value to the Eagles is unmatched and a recent listing proofs just that.
NFL.com’s Greg Rosenthal recently ranked the 35 top signal-callers in terms of overall value.
With the NFL full of top-tier quarterbacks and guys rising up the charts, Wentz landed in the top-5 of the list, coming in at No. 5.

Carson Wentz
It’s easy to pick nits about Wentz’s accuracy and occasional streakiness. It’s also easy for the Eagles to feel comfortable with a 27-year-old established top-10 quarterback under contract for five more seasons at an average cap number under $30 million per. The Eagles signed Wentz at a modest discount coming off an injury, which gives him an edge over other options in the top 10.
Contract notwithstanding, Wentz 2019 numbers suggest that the best is yet to come after a season in which he passed for 4,000 yards and threw less than 10 interceptions.
Wentz 2019 regular season stats: 16 games | 63.9 pct | 4,039 pass yds | 6.7 ypa | 27 pass TD | 7 INT | 243 rush yds | 1 rush TD | 7 fumbles lost.
Wentz can sling the football around with the best quarterbacks in the league and despite a poor overall year from the weapons around him, the Eagles star still stood out statistically.
Wentz had a career year in spite of his receiving corps having no player with more than 500 yards receiving through the air.
Baker Mayfield, Matt Ryan, Aaron Rodgers, Dak Prescott, and Kyler Murray rounded out the top-10.
Deshaun Watson came in at No. 4, followed by Russell Wilson, Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes was No. 1 on the list.
