Over ten years after the release of NCAA Football 14, EA Sports revealed on Thursday the date for College Football 25 to finally come out and mark the return of video games for college athletics.
EA announced a July 19 release date for the highly anticipated game, and revealed a trio of college football stars will be on the cover of the game’s standard edition: Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers, Colorado dual threat Travis Hunter, and Michigan running back Donovan Edwards.
“Donovan, Quinn and Travis are extraordinary talents who impressed and entertained millions of college football fans on the field last season and are poised to do so again this year,” EA Sports SVP and Group GM Daryl Holt, said in a statement. “We’re proud to be able to incorporate thousands of current athletes in College Football 25, and featuring this trio of playmakers and their iconic college programs on the cover is a perfect fit as we usher in a new era for EA SPORTS and college football.”

EA Sports’ college games were discontinued after the release of NCAA Football 14 following Ed O’Bannon’s lawsuit against the NCAA. The emergence of NIL now allows student-athletes to profit off their likeness in video games, which opened the door for the franchise to return under a new name.
More information will be revealed about the new game on May 17, and after an 11-year wait fans now only have two more months until college football is back at EA Sports.
