Tennessee men’s distance specialist Dylan Jacobs has been named to the top-10 for the Bowerman Award watch list.
The award is the highest award for a NCAA Division I track and field athlete and is given annually by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Jacobs, a graduate transfer from Notre Dame, makes his debut on the watch list after recording historically fast times in both the 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter runs during the 2022-23 indoor season.
At the SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships, he set a record in the 3K (7 minutes, 52.49 seconds). He won a gold medal in the conference championships as a member of the Vols’ distance medley relay team.
Other athletes on the watch list include: Mykolis Alekna (California, discus); Drew Bosley (Northern Arizona, distance); Cameron Crump (Mississippi State, jumps); Sean Burrell (LSU, hurdles); Anass Essayi (South Carolina, middle distance), Kyle Garland (Georgia, combined events); Elija Goodwin (Georgia, sprints); Sondre Guttormsen (Princeton, pole vault) and Ayden Owens-Delerme (Arkansas, combined events).
