Everybody seems to have to give their opinion when it comes to the Philadelphia 76ers. Whether it’s about Joel Embiid or Brett Brown or Ben Simmons, everybody has an opinion for such a talented team that is, for all intents and purposes, underachieving as the 5 seed in the Eastern Conference.
Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade, who has a lot of respect for Simmons and exchanged jerseys with him in his final game in Philadelphia, does not want Simmons to wait or waste an opportunity. Everybody has been upset with him not taking jump shots as Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo has begun to expand his game out to the 3-point line.
Wade joined ESPN’s First Take in his hometown of Chicago to speak about Simmons and he said:
Don’t wait. Giannis is not waiting. Like, I love Ben, I think Ben can be a star star in this league and I don’t want him waiting for his opportunity. Take it now. I think a lot of guys do that. They wait and say ‘Oh next year, next year’. When I came in, third year championship, I don’t got time to wait. Let’s this going and let’s get it on…take what you have and go at it, go after it and work, work, work, and that’s what I want to see these guys do…I want Ben Simmons to look at what Giannis did and say ‘I’m not wating’. I want to be league MVP now and not later.

Wade is a guy who is on his way to being a first-ballot Hall of Famer and a guy who Simmons can use an example. Simmons has all of the tools to be one of the top five or so players in the league. The time is now for him to take it and to be on his way to an eventual NBA championship. [lawrence-related id=25790,25782,25772]
