Week 11 of the 2020 NFL season already looked pretty interesting considering it pits Joe Burrow’s Cincinnati Bengals against Dwayne Haskins’ team in Washington.
But Haskins’ new comments about Burrow and their time together as members of the Ohio State Buckeyes sure make things more interesting.
Simply put, Haskins dropped a “can’t stand” comment about Burrow because of the way the Bengals QB pushed him to be better, per Monday’s Ring Chronicles series from FOX:
“I love Joe but during that battle, for almost two years, me and Joe couldn’t stand each other. Every day, whether it was morning workouts or when we had to do mat drills and it’d be me and him on the mat drill, it was gritty. Or it was practice and me and him are trying to get in front of each other to get a rep to throw to one of the starting receivers. It was always this heated competition but we knew we got the best out of each other. He made it hard for me and I made it hard for him and I didn’t let him take it away.”
Burrow and Haskins were indeed involved in a fierce battle at Ohio State before the former went on to LSU and eventually won the job there, going on to become the No. 1 pick this year.
If nothing else, Haskins’ comments help to illustrate how fierce positional battles are this time of year at all levels of football.
And while Haskins won that battle, Urban Meyer himself has recently weighed in on the Burrow vs. Haskins debate.
Knowing just how competitive these two are, Burrow is likely to have these comments in mind when Cincinnati travels to Washington in Week 11.
