Dustin Johnson, TaylorMade busy with rebuilds, upgrades

Dustin Johnson is not in this week’s Honda Classic, but he’s keeping his club-builders at TaylorMade busy this week.

Dustin Johnson is not in this week’s Honda Classic, but he lives near tournament host PGA National.

On Monday he asked TaylorMade’s technicians to check his back-up set of P730 irons to ensure they are identical to his gamer set.

Wade Liles, who builds Johnson’s club in TaylorMade’s PGA Tour van, is also making the 2016 U.S. Open champion four drivers to test and re-shafting his new SIM Max Rescue club with a Project X HZRDUS Smoke shaft.

And Liles is making a pair of new fairway woods for Johnson and putting a new head on his sand wedge, because the topline has a chip on it.

Johnson also asked TaylorMade to build him a set of P760 irons.

So much for the off week.
