Raise your hand if you knew this would happen five years ago. You know, when Duncan Robinson was a new transfer to Michigan from D-III Williams.

Raise your hand if you even thought that his career trajectory would be what it’s been since leaving Ann Arbor.

If you have your hand raised, you’re wiser than most.

Robinson has been on an absolute tear since joining the Miami Heat full-time. He was originally undrafted, then was signed as a two-way player, and eventually made the roster. Now, he’s just draining three after three after three after three.

As of right now, Robinson is sixth in NBA three-point shooting percentage (43.8%), sixth in three-point field goals made, all while being 13th in three-pointers attempted.

And on Wednesday night, he continued his hot streak, going 7-for-8 in the first half for the Miami Heat against the Orlando Magic.

Before Wednesday, Robinson has had 23 games where he’s scored 15 points or more, seven 20+ point games and one 34-point breakout. He’s reached double-digits in an astounding 41 of the 62 games he’s played in, Wednesday included.

Robinson still has 20 regular season games left to continue his dominance. And that’s before the playoffs even arrive.

Hard to believe that midway through his senior season, he was so cold and such a defensive liability that he was relegated to the bench. Perhaps, given his career turnaround, that was precisely the motivation he needed.
