The Cincinnati Bengals and star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase have had discussions about a contract extension already.
Monday at the team’s annual luncheon, Bengals director of player personnel Duke Tobin confirmed the sides “have had conversations” on the topic, according to WLWT’s Charlie Clifford.
This revelation is about as unsurprising as the news Joe Burrow has been cleared for contact.
The Bengals wouldn’t be doing proper due diligence without at least opening a dialogue about a Chase extension. He’s been earmarked for the long-term deal at wideout while Tee Higgins will play next year on the franchise tag.
While a Chase extension this summer isn’t impossible, there’s no rush either — he’s under contract through 2025 and has been very open about waiting on the market to keep escalating the price as other players get deals.
