USA TODAY Sports’ Craig Meyer released his updated ACC power rankings through Week 3 on Monday, and the Duke Blue Devils sat outside the top 10 despite their 3-0 start.
Meyer slotted the Blue Devils in at 11th, one spot below California and two spots below the North Carolina Tar Heels.
Duke trailed Connecticut after three quarters on Saturday, and despite the comeback victory, Meyer still seemed unimpressed with the performance. The Blue Devils led by 17 midway through the second quarter, and the Huskies had previously lost to Maryland by 43 points. ESPN FPI knocked head coach [autotag]Manny Diaz[/autotag]’s team down seven spots after Week 3.
The ranking reflects our insights as the Blue Devils finished at the exact same spot in Duke Wire’s power rankings. The resilience Duke has shown in its two fourth-quarter comebacks is worth commending, but the offense has gone through a complete drought that lasted at least a quarter in all three contests, and the schedule only gets harder from here.
Miami remained in the top spot after a 62-point victory over Ball State, and Meyer still believes in the Clemson Tigers. Dabo Swinney’s team took the No. 2 spot in the rankings despite a lopsided loss to the Georgia Bulldogs in Week 1.
The Florida State Seminoles, preseason favorites after last year’s undefeated regular season, tumbled all the way down to the second-to-last spot at 16th. FSU lost to Memphis on Saturday, its third straight defeat to start the season, and still looks incapable of generating momentum on offense.
