Duke football only has 10 commitments from the Class of 2025 thus far, but two of them won’t need to be introduced to each other.
Defensive lineman Tommy Rupley announced his decision to play for the Blue Devils on Friday. He plays for the Belmont Hill School in Massachusetts, as does teammate Sampson Onuoha, an edge rusher who committed to the Blue Devils two months ago.
The Belmont Hill connection actually tracks back to the Class of 2018 when wide receiver Jake Bobo, who now plays for the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL. Bobo ended up with 126 receptions for 1,441 yards and three touchdowns across his four years with the Blue Devils before he transferred to UCLA for his senior year.
Now, it’s up to Onuoha and Rupley to continue the Belmont Hill legacy in Durham on the defensive side. Based on a recent message on social media, Onuoha seems excited to play with his teammate once more.

“That Belmont Hill (to) Durham pipeline stay strong!!” he wrote on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
Duke fans need to wait more than a year to see the two on the field at the same time (again), but the fall of 2025 will make Durham feel a bit like Belmont.
