Duke football adds All-Ivy wideout from the transfer portal after 1,000-yard season

The Duke Blue Devils landed their second receiver from the transfer portal on Saturday night, a 1,000-yard wideout from Harvard.

The Duke Blue Devils added another veteran to their 2025 wide receiver room on Saturday night, this time in the form of Harvard Crimson standout Cooper Barkate.

Barkate finished the 2024 season with 1,084 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns, both the most of any Ivy League wideout, on 63 receptions. It’s worth reminding that the Crimson only played 10 games this season, meaning Duke’s newest wideout averaged more than 108 yards per contest.

He finished on an absolute tear, reaching triple digits in five of Harvard’s last seven games and stacking 169 yards and two scores in the finale against Yale. It was his fourth multi-touchdown game of the 2024 campaign, and it helped book his place on the First Team All-Ivy squad.

The former Crimson star, who holds on to two more years of eligibility, caught 50 passes for 658 yards and three touchdowns between the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Barkate joins former Oklahoma Sooners receiver Andrel Anthony, who committed to the Blue Devils earlier this month, on the 2025 roster. Former Dartmouth defensive lineman Josiah Green, another All-Ivy nomination, signed with the Blue Devils as well.
