Now that Mike Krzyzewski is officially retired, he’ll have a lot more time on his hands at home.
The adjustment won’t likely be an easy one for someone who’s spent the last five decades coaching basketball. So new Duke head coach Jon Scheyer, along with the team Krzyzewski just coached to the Final Four, got him a little gift to make it easier.
At Duke’s annual awards banquet on Thursday, the team surprised Coach K on stage with the most adorable puppy, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen Krzyzewski light up like this before. Fittingly, the pup is named Coach, and just look at him, he’s perfect.

With a new puppy around the house, Coach K won’t be short of an outlet to bark orders at in case of a relapse. But let’s be real, Coach is going to be the real head dog of the Krzyzewski household.
