Duke basketball sticks within the top 10 of the USA TODAY Sports coaches poll

Despite a big road victory over the Arizona Wildcats on Friday, the Blue Devils didn’t move in the USA TODAY Sports coaches poll.

The Duke Blue Devils notched their first top-25 win of the season on Friday, a 69-55 victory over Caleb Love and the Arizona Wildcats, but they’ll need more to shift back toward the top of the USA TODAY Sports men’s basketball coaches poll.

Duke remained 10th in the updated rankings released on Monday, still the highest-ranked ACC team in the standings. While the Purdue Boilermakers tumbled underneath them after a loss to Marquette, the Kentucky Wildcats vaulted over them to No. 8.

The Kansas Jayhawks, the next opponent on the Blue Devils’ schedule, held onto the No. 1 spot for the fourth straight week. Legendary head coach Bill Self and his team received 25 of a possible 31 first-place votes. The Connecticut Huskies, Auburn Tigers (another of Duke’s non-conference opponents), Gonzaga Bulldogs, and Iowa State Cyclones all remained unmoved in the top five.

The North Carolina Tar Heels slipped one spot to 13th, and the Arizona Wildcats dropped down to 23rd with their second loss of the year.
