The news regarding next year’s college basketball rosters isn’t done yet and on Wednesday, a report about UNC’s biggest rival surfaced.
A former four-star recruit and UNC target, Joey Baker is reportedly entering his name into the transfer portal after four seasons at Duke. The News & Observer first reported the news on Wednesday.
Baker has one year of eligibility left but will need a special waiver to play right away as his decision to enter the portal came after the May 1 deadline.
In his four seasons at Duke, Baker struggled to find consistent playing time and appeared in just four games his freshman year, burning his redshirt. He returned in each of the next three seasons and for his career he averaged 4.1 points and 1.1 rebounds per game.
With Baker departure, it may point to the Blue Devils getting ready to add another grad transfer. A.J. Green out of Northern Iowa is reportedly on a visit to Duke on Wednesday.
