The shoulder injury to Duane Brown was in fact enough to place the left tackle on injured reserve, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
#Jets LT Duane Brown will be placed on IR today with the hope he’ll be back in a few weeks, sources say. Brown and doctors discussed multiple options, including surgery, but Brown wants to rehab and try to return as soon as Week 5.

Brown will now miss at least four games but hopes that is all he is going to miss. He can return for Week 5 against the Dolphins.
Per Will Parkinson of the Turn on the Jets podcast, Brown’s injury is to his rotator cuff. He opted for rehab over surgery and will attempt to come back after just four weeks.

The Jets elevated offensive tackle Grant Hermanns from the practice squad. It will be George Fant at left tackle and Max Mitchell at right tackle with Hermanns and Conor McDermott as the reserve tackles.
New York is now assured of playing at least through the Baltimore, Cleveland and Cincinnati games without Brown and quarterback Zach Wilson. Not exactly what the team envisioned before the first preseason game.
