To open training camp, the Golden State Warriors will be without a key piece as they begin their prep for the 2021-22 season. Draymond Green will miss the start of Golden State’s training camp in the Bay Area with an excused absence.
At the Warriors’ media day, general manager Bob Myers said the team hopes Green will be available to return for training camp “in the next few days.” Along with media day on Monday, Green was missing from Golden State’s first practice on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Steve Kerr confirmed Green has an excused absence for the Warriors’ start of practice in San Francisco.

Steve Kerr said they don’t know when Draymond Green will be back. He missed media day and the first day of practice.
“We’ve been in touch with Draymond over the past week. We’ll keep his personal stuff private, but he’s got an excused absence.”

After the Warriors’ 2020-21 season ended with back-to-back losses in the postseason play-in tournament, Green quickly joined Team USA for a run through the Tokyo Olympics. In August, the three-time All-Star earned his second gold medal with a win over France.
Once Green makes his debut at Golden State’s 2021 camp, he will have the opportunity to work with new teammates like Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody, Otto Porter Jr. and Avery Bradley.
