Draymond Green was the latest person to weigh in on the Jaren Jackson Jr. stat-padding controversy when he discussed the matter on Tuesday’s episode of the Draymond Green Show.
Despite some pretty convincing evidence to debunk the theory, making it maybe the dumbest story of the NBA season, Green agreed that the league’s statisticians can be better with his own stats. That led to a sidebar about people who bet on those stats and complain on social media when they don’t hit. Green dropped a heavy dose of truth on them.
“People talk so crazy on social media when they bet, and they don’t successfully complete their bets,” Green said. “It’s ‘Draymond, you suck. You only had seven points.’ But, it’s like, actually you suck at betting. Because just like I only had seven points and it was 7.5, you could have very well chose under 7.5 and you chose 7.5 over. Does that make me dumb and sorry, or does that make you dumb and sorry at betting?”
Ouch. That stung didn’t it? But he wasn’t done there.
“So, I think more so you should credit Vegas for putting the line right there, and fault yourself, because you chose the over. People are notorious at gambling and pointing the finger at someone else. Hey, you had a choice, the choice was very simple: ‘I think Draymond is going to score eight points [or] I think he’s going to score seven points.’ Regardless of what I score, you made that decision, so you’re actually bad at what you do.”
