Before the NBA season returns to action in the Orlando bubble, Bleacher Report counted down the top 100 players of the 2019-20 season. Over the past five years, members of the Golden State Warriors have littered across any list ranking NBA players. However, the 2019-20 season was a different story.
Injuries to Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson excluded the Splash Brothers duo from Bleacher Report’s rankings. Only players with 500 or more minutes in 2019-20 were eligible for the docket.
Despite their league-worst 15-50 record, one member of the Bay Area’s basketball team cracked the countdown. Although his season wasn’t All-Star caliber, Draymond Green came in at No. 78 on BR’s Top 100 players.
In 2019-20, the former Defensive Player of the Year averaged 8.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.4 steals in 28.4 minutes per game. Without Curry and Thompson on the floor, Green’s shooting numbers dipped to 28.4% from the field and 38.9% from beyond the arc. The Michigan State product also dealt with injuries, missing 22 games for the Warriors.
In Golden State’s Christmas day upset against the Houston Rockets, Green was a factor. The two-time All-Star tallied a season-high 20 points, 11 rebounds and three assists in Golden State’s 116-104 victory. In the Warriors’ 134-123 win against the Pelicans, Green registered a signature triple-double with 17 boards, 16 points and 10 assists.
Former Golden State Warrior turned Minnesota Timberwolves point guard D’Angelo Russell came in at No. 45.
