UNC football star quarterback [autotag]Drake Maye[/autotag] continues to have a phenomenal freshman season — highlighted by finding his name on many weekly awards. This week, he added to that list.

On Tuesday, it was announced that Maye was a semi-finalist for the Maxwell Award — given to the top player in college at the end of the year.

Maye was one of 20 members and nine quarterbacks on the list. He is also one of two ACC players, alongside Pitt running back Israel Abanikanda.

Maye is coming off of a 388-yard and five-touchdown game in a win against Pitt, where he also picked up the Maxwell Player of the Week honor for his performance. He has been the biggest reason for the Tar Heels ranking of No. 17 in the AP Top 25.

Maye has thrown for 2,671 yards and 29 touchdowns to just three interceptions this season. He has also rushed for a team-high 439 yards and three touchdowns. He has had three or more passing touchdowns in six of the eight games this season and four or more in four games.

His touchdowns rank first in the country, quarterback rating ranks third and passing yards rank fourth.

Depending on a few results, North Carolina could wrap up the ACC Coastal Division this week with a win over Virginia.
