UNC football quarterback Drake Maye will return for his second season as the starter and is considered among the top players returning in all of college football. Maye had a fantastic 2022 campaign in his first year starting, helping the Tar Heels get off to a great start.
Maye was even in the Heisman talk for the first part of the season before fading off down the stretch. As Maye returns for another year, Pro Football Focus posted a stat on Tuesday that showed just how good he was in one area of his game.
He led all quarterbacks in the highest passing grades on passes over 20 yards, per Pro Football Focus:

Maye beat out some of the other top quarterbacks as you see above, including Max Duggan and Heisman winner Caleb Williams.
The North Carolina native burst onto the scene last year, making headlines in the college football world and the expectation is he will do so again this upcoming season. If Maye can have another big year and UNC’s defense improves, the Tar Heels could be a surprise team in college football.
