The Week 8 loss to Virginia was a major disappointment for the North Carolina Tar Heels, ending their perfect season and leaving doubt in the minds of fans.
All-around it was a bad performance for the Tar Heels including from the offense led by quarterback Drake Maye. Now, a week later as the Tar Heels look to get back on track, Maye saw his ranking in Tom Fornelli’s updated quarterback rankings on CBS Sports.
Fornelli made some big changes to his rankings for the week and among the most notable is Maye, USC’s Caleb Williams and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders not only dropped out of the rankings but they aren’t even in the honorable mention category.
Instead, they are in the “serving detention” category for Fornelli.
All three struggled last week, in Sanders’ case it was an upset loss to Stanford a few weeks back. The hype has paused just a tad bit this week on the trio but big performances this week could lead to them being in the rankings again.
As for the ACC, there are two quarterbacks in the rankings led by Jordan Travis of Florida State at No. 7 and then Boston College’s Thomas Castellanos.
