North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye is one of the best returning players in all of college football going into the 2023 season. After an impressive season in which he broke some program records, Maye is back for what is very likely his final year in Chapel Hill.
And going into this upcoming season, Maye is earning his fair share of preseason recognition.
On Thursday, Maye picked up some recognition by Pro Football Focus as the site released its preseason All-ACC team for offense. Taking the quarterback spot on the team was Maye, beating out Florida State’s Jordan Travis and Clemson’s Cade Klubnik:

Maye is coming off a 2022 season in which he threw for 4,321 yards and 38 touchdowns. He also added 698 rushing yards and 7 rushing touchdowns.
The quarterback is not only earning recognition in the ACC but also nationally as well. He’s been named to a few preseason second teams behind only USC’s Caleb Williams. And the recognition should continue with media days next week and more preseason teams being released.
