Draft Wire debates whether Shedeur Sanders should declare for the 2024 NFL draft

Draft Wire discussed whether or not Shedeur Sanders should declare for the 2024 NFL draft

The big question over the next couple of months will be whether or not Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders will declare for the 2024 NFL draft. A few months ago, this figured to be an easy decision.

He was at the center of the Heisman Trophy conversation as the Buffaloes began 3-0 and had a spot in the AP Top 25. Weeks later, it remains to be seen what his draft status will be, and a 1-7 record down the stretch and poor offensive play by the Buffs certainly hasn’t helped his case.

There are a lot of discussions about Sanders’ future, although CU head coach Deion Sanders has said that he anticipates his son will return for another year.

But, Natalie Miller of Draft Wire sees a path for Shedeur to enter the NFL draft in 2024 and details why:

There is so much at risk should Sanders opt to stay in Colorado and it could be a legitimately career-altering movie. It’s unlikely Colorado will be able to turn the offensive line around in a single season and the top weapons in the country are not going to come to Boulder anytime soon. Sanders should seriously consider flexing the talent showcase he put on this year and enter the 2024 draft as one of the premier prospects and avoid a potentially career-altering injury of production change should he stay with the Buffaloes.

Whether or not Shedeur enters remains to be seen, but it will be a major talking point over the next few weeks.
