The Philadelphia 76ers had a rough go at it in the ’90s decade. They had a tough time transitioning to the next era of Sixers basketball as they were not able to find the next guy to lead the way.
After a 24-58 season, the team entered the 1995 NBA Draft with the 3rd pick and they went with a scorer out of North Carolina in Jerry Stackhouse. He had a productive rookie season averaging 19.2 points and 3.9 assists, but Philadelphia only won 18 games and they landed the number 1 pick in the 1996 draft which then landed them Allen Iverson.
Stackhouse and Iverson could not quite mesh together despite both players averaging over 20 points per game. The team was not able to have much success and Stackhouse was then traded to the Detroit Pistons in order to acquire Aaron McKie and Theo Ratliff.
He blossomed into an All-Star for the Pistons before being sent to the Washington Wizards. He was then traded to the Dallas Mavericks, and he spent time with the Milwaukee Bucks, the Miami Heat, the Atlanta Hawks, and the Brooklyn Nets before retiring in 2013. He is now mostly a TV analyst for NBATV. [lawrence-related id=38302,38299,38296]
