The Colorado Buffaloes pulled off their biggest win of the season with a massive upset over the No. 2 Arizona Wildcats with a final score of 79-63. There was a palpable electricity in the air as the Buffs honored their seniors in front of a packed CU Events Center and earned a dominant win over one of the top teams in the country.
After a difficult start that saw the Buffs trail 8-2, Colorado surged to a 16-11 lead with a 12-0 run powered by several forced turnovers and back-to-back rebounds from Jabari Walker. Walker ended the first half in explosive fashion, finishing with 13 points, eight rebounds, two blocks and a steal, proving once again that he has the capability to elevate his game when it counts and hang in there with the best of them.
The Buffs continued to fight in the second half and took over with a 10-2 run late that gave them a comfortable lead to seal the win. Tristan da Silva was dominant in the second half with 13 points as Colorado surged past the Wildcats and the court was stormed when the clock hit zero.
The night was capped off with speeches from the Buffs’ seniors that included a thunderous applause for Evan Battey as he claimed he would be back as a head coach someday. While their NCAA Tournament fate is uncertain, it couldn’t have been a better night for Colorado.
