Doug Pederson: ‘We just don’t have time to enjoy wins’

Jaguars fans are enjoying the team’s magical run, but Doug Pederson says he’s too busy to stop and smell the roses.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are stacking up some incredible games and wins that’ll be etched into the minds of the team’s fans for years to come.

Just a month ago, the Jaguars pulled off a 17-point comeback to beat the Dallas Cowboys with a pick six in overtime. It was a signature win that was one of the best in TIAA Bank Field history, yet only a few weeks later, the Jaguars have already added two more all-time classics.

In Week 18, the Jaguars scored a defensive touchdown with three minutes left to steal the AFC South title from their biggest rival. Then a week later, Jacksonville erased a 27-0 deficit to pull off a comeback for the ages and beat the Los Angeles Chargers on Wild Card Weekend.

While Jaguars fans are reveling in a season that has quickly become a magical one, coach Doug Pederson says he’s too busy to stop and smell the roses.

“We just don’t have time to enjoy wins,” Pederson said Monday. “You’re playing 8:15, and you’re getting done 11:30, and you’re right back in the office the next day, and you’re deciding who you’re going to play.

“I’d rather be doing this and coaching our football team this time of year.”

Up next on the Jaguars’ roller coaster ride is a road trip to play the Kansas City Chiefs. If Jacksonville loses, Pederson will finally have time to sit and appreciate the wild journey from 4-8 to the Divisional Round. Jaguars fans would undoubtedly prefer that he continues to be too busy for that moment just yet, though.
