It was a frustrating stretch for Choi, who went 0-3-1 from 2016-23, which included a Hall of Fame inducted fight against Cub Swanson. … Landwehr (18-5 MMA, 5-3 UFC) also aims to win two straight this year. His first appearance was in March, where he stopped Jamall Emmers in the opening round to return to the win column. A decision loss vs. Dan Ige last June snapped a three-fight winning streak.

To Choi’s credit, the Korean has made some marked strides to fight smarter since his return from military service. That said, I’m not sure Landweher’s style will allow for Choi to safely – even if he wanted to.
Ever since his days on the M-1 scene in Russa, Landwehr has always had a fan-friendly style that makes for entertaining fights.
Even though Landwehr tends to take damage early, the native of Tennessee almost appears to feed off the violence, getting stronger as the fight goes on.
The American will be tempting fate early against someone who keeps powerful counters on a hair-trigger like Choi, but I think he can steadily take the steering wheel if he’s able to get out of the first round.
