Dontrez Styles set to visit NC State in new recruitment

Former UNC basketball forward Dontrez Styles is set to visit NC State this weekend.

Since entering the transfer portal days ago, former UNC basketball forward Dontrez Styles has gained a lot of interest from teams. And now he’s ready to start taking visits.

Per multiple reports, Styles is one of two players in the transfer portal set to pay a visit to NC State over the weekend. The Wolfpack are showing interest in both Styles and Temple guard Damian Dunn, with both visiting the program.

Styles was recruited by NC State in high school before picking North Carolina. The Kinston native is among the best players in the transfer portal and is looking for a place he can come in and start right away.

In two seasons at North Carolina, Styles appeared in 45 total games averaging 1.8 points and 5.9 minutes per game. He had some moments for the Tar Heels including hitting a big three-pointer in overtime in the win over Baylor in the 2022 NCAA Tournament.

But for some reason, Styles didn’t get as much playing time as he thought he would and is now looking for a new opportunity.

As of Saturday, UNC has had five players enter the transfer portal.
