After finally reaching their bye week 14 weeks into the season, the Miami Dolphins are refreshed and ready to make a push to the playoffs that starts with their second game of the season against the New York Jets this Sunday.

According to Tipico Sportsbook, the Dolphins are currently an 8.5-point favorite over the Jets for this matchup at Hard Rock Stadium. They’re also a huge favorite on the moneyline with their victory set at -450, and the over/under for the contest is 42.5 points.

Brian Flores’ team is dealing with a lot of COVID-19 questions right now with four players being placed on the reserve/COVID list in the last few days, including Jevon Holland, Myles Gaskin, Salvon Ahmed, and Phillip Lindsay. Their running game hasn’t been great, so the loss of the backs shouldn’t be a huge issue, but if Holland were to miss time, the defense would certainly be affected.

For the Jets, their defense has been losing players all season, leading to their 32nd-ranked scoring defense. Now, they’ve lost their top two pass catchers in Elijah Moore and Corey Davis to injuries which makes rookie quarterback Zach Wilson’s job even harder. If Miami’s defense plays like they have in their last five games, New York will have to play one of their best games of the year to secure a victory.
