Dolphins to interview Ravens DL coach Anthony Weaver for defensive coordinator job

Miami will interview a Ravens positional coach for their defensive coordinator role.

The Miami Dolphins are conducting a thorough search for their next defensive coordinator after mutually parting ways with Vic Fangio after he served just one year in the role.

According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the Dolphins are set to interview Baltimore Ravens associate head coach and defensive line coach Anthony Weaver for the position. Her report also included that Weaver interviewed for the head coach job for the Washington Commanders.

Weaver, 43, has been in his current role for two seasons and had been the defensive line coach and run game coordinator for Baltimore in 2021. Before he joined the Ravens, he spent time with the Houston Texans, Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills and New York Jets, reaching defensive coordinator during the 2020 season in Houston.

Prior to coaching, Weaver played defensive end for the Ravens from 2002-05 and the Texans from 2006-08, recording 257 tackles and 15.5 sacks during his career.

He now joins Leslie Frazier, Ryan Slowik, Anthony Campanile, Bobby Babich and Brandon Staley as candidates for the position in Miami Gardens.
