With the Miami Dolphins trading Chase Edmonds on Tuesday, as part of the deal for Bradley Chubb, the team had an opening at running back.

However, that spot wasn’t open very long, as, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Dolphins are trading for Jeff Wilson Jr. from the San Francisco 49ers. In return, the 49ers are getting a 2023 fifth-round pick back.

Wilson spent the first four seasons of his career with head coach Mike McDaniel in San Francisco, so he has plenty of familiarity with the system that he’ll be running in Miami.

In his career, he’s rushed for 4.4 yards per carry, and this season, he’s rushed for 468 yards and two touchdowns on 5.1 yards per attempt.

Adding Wilson, who seemed to be out of a job in San Francisco, to compliment Raheem Mostert seems to be a smart move by general manager Chris Grier.
