Even the competition was raving about Elijah Moore’s performance on Sunday afternoon.
The Jets rookie caught eight passes for 141 yards and a touchdown against the Dolphins. Gang Green lost the game, 24-17, but Moore’s career day earned widespread praise from teammates and opponents alike.
“He’s going to be special in this league,” Dolphins CB Xavien Howard said. “He’s a smaller guy, quick guy. He made some tough catches out there and I respect his game.”
Robert Saleh said much of the same about Moore, whose touchdown came on a 62-yard reception that required elusive speed. “He’s only going to get better,” Saleh said. “He’s going to be a special kid.”
Moore, meanwhile, had just as much appreciation for Howard, one of the NFL’s top ballhawks.
“I’ve been watching him for a while. He’s a great corner, he’s a great player. And I’m going to take it and run with it if somebody special’s telling me that,” Moore said. “Much respect.”

A second-round pick, Moore has scored five touchdowns in his last five games to go along with 25 catches and 349 yards. He has become the focal point of New York’s passing attack after a slow start to his first NFL season.
He will get another chance to go up against Howard and the Dolphins when the Jets head to Miami in Week 15.
