Dolphins signing LB Melvin Ingram to their practice squad

Miami is bringing back a LB from last year’s team.

The Miami Dolphins have been looking for help to fill in on the edge since Jaelan Phillips suffered a torn Achilles a few backs.

After signing Jason Pierre-Paul, the Dolphins have added another veteran pass-rusher, as they’ve signed Melvin Ingram to their practice squad, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Ingram, 34, most recently played for the Dolphins last season. He recorded 22 total tackles (seven for a loss), 10 quarterback hits, six sacks, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and a pass defensed while playing 45% of the team’s snaps.

The former South Carolina Gamecock will likely come in and play a depth/rotational role for Vic Fangio’s defense, who could use another body on the edge.
