Dolphins sign DT Niles Scott, place CB Trill Williams on IR

More defensive help.

Despite rosters needing to be cut to 85 by 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, the Miami Dolphins are continuing to sign players.

Along with their signing of cornerback MacKenzie Alexander, the Dolphins also announced that they’ve signed defensive tackle Niles Scott.

Scott went undrafted in 2018 out of Frostburg State and was originally signed by the San Francisco 49ers. Since then, he’s had stops in Denver, Cincinnati, Buffalo, Las Vegas, Tennessee, New England and Seattle.

He played six games as a rookie, recording four tackles, but he hasn’t played in the regular season since.

Miami may be looking to move on from one of their defensive linemen, and Scott could be a replacement, as they get a look at him in the preseason.

Along with these two roster moves, the Dolphins also announced that they’ve put cornerback Trill Williams on injured reserve after his torn ACL revelation. Being put on injured reserve before the start of the regular season means he will not be able to return in 2022 if he were to have a miraculous recovery by the end of the year.
