Steve Young – 33,124 yards
Young’s career was bogged down by a slow start in Tampa Bay and then having to sit behind Joe Montana for an extended period of time. Young’s brilliance in the 1990s was magnificent — he led the NFL in passer rating for four consecutive seasons and in a total of six years out of a seven year stretch. But, unlike Fitzpatrick, Young didn’t have the sticking power due to injuries and therefore he’s now in striking distance of Fitzpatrick.
Needing just 238 yards to pass Young, Fitzpatrick could leapfrog three legends on the passing list in one day.
