The Miami Dolphins are in need of a refresh along the offensive line. That’s no secret. But we’re now beginning to get our first glimpses of who might survive the overhaul — and just as specifically which talents from 2019 will be asked to hit the road. One of the Dolphins’ key 2019 contributors, offensive tackle J’Marcus Webb, is set to hit the free agent market later this month; the latest seems to indicate he won’t be asked to return for another go with Miami.
That’s the latest, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. Jackson noted that the Dolphins and Webb are expected to part ways this offseason.
It isn’t a massive loss for the Dolphins, considering Webb was credited with 7 sacks on the season and struggled with consistency over the course of his eight starts with the team. And to Webb’s credit, he was quickly cast into the fray. The Dolphins signed Webb on September 6th and just 9 days later he was taking the field as a starter after Miami saw Julien Davenport go down with a leg injury in the season opener.
Webb would go on to start the next 8 consecutive games for Miami before being pulled from the starting lineup for the team’s second game against the Buffalo Bills in 2019. He was slowly phased out from there and was a non-participant in Miami’s final two games of the season — wins against both the Cincinnati Bengals and the New England Patriots.
