What was Robert Hunt thinking when he grabbed a pass from Tua Tagovailoa and tried to score, despite possibly knowing it was illegal to do so as an ineligible receiver because he’s an offensive lineman?
It turns out there was a really good reason for that move. And he said as much to the NFL Network after his big viral moment on Thursday, coming in a Miami Dolphins win over the Baltimore Ravens.
“I saw [Calais Campbell] standing there, I saw the ball, I didn’t want it to get intercepted, so I took off running with it,” he said.
“I was trying to win at that point,” he added. “Even though it didn’t count … it didn’t click in my head that it didn’t count. I just tried to score.”

See? It was a brilliant play! He prevented what could have been an interception. It made the play even better:
i don't care if he's not eligible, this counts for 12 points pic.twitter.com/iad8VzInyo
