Dolphins make Jalen Ramsey the NFL’s highest paid CB with extension

Jalen Ramsey got a new deal from the Dolphins that puts him back in the highest paid spot amongst cornerbacks.

Jalen Ramsey is once again the highest paid cornerback in the NFL after agreeing to a three-year, $72.3 million contract with the Miami Dolphins, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Friday.

The $24.1 million annual average tops the $24 million average that Patrick Surtain II received from the Denver Broncos earlier this week that became the short-lived new highest mark at the position.

Ramsey, 29, has earned Pro Bowl honors in each of the last seven seasons and is entering his second season in Miami after he was traded to the team by the Los Angeles Rams in the 2023 offseason. While a hamstring injury threatens to keep Ramsey out of action for the Dolphins’ season opener Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami is clearly optimistic about its future with the star defensive back in the secondary.

After starting his career with the Jaguars, Ramsey has tallied 22 interceptions, six forced fumbles, two sacks, and 21 tackles for loss in his career.

Ramsey signed a five-year, $100 million extension with the Rams in 2020, shortly after he was acquired by the team from the Jaguars. Similarly, the Dolphins gave the cornerback a three-year, $55 million restructured extension when they acquired him in 2023.

With the flurry of new deals in the last few years for Ramsey, he has rocketed up the career-earnings list at the cornerback position.
