Dolphins free agent target OT La’el Collins to sign with Bengals

There goes a top option.

One of the biggest positions the Miami Dolphins needed to upgrade at this offseason was offensive tackle, and while it’s still early, one of their targets has signed elsewhere.

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, former Dallas Cowboys tackle La’el Collins is finalizing an agreement to join the Cincinnati Bengals after meeting with them on Friday. It’s unknown what Collins is getting in terms of compensation, but the Bengals were just AFC champions. They’re obviously closer to a Super Bowl than Miami, at this point.

General manager Chris Grier said at the scouting combine that the Dolphins had good, young players on the line that just needed to play better, but it would make sense for them to go after at least one tackle during free agency.

The big domino of New Orleans Saints offensive tackle Terron Armstead has yet to fall, so they could just be waiting on him. However, they can’t wait around if they want to address the glaring need.
