Dolphins drop in power rankings after loss to the Eagles

Miami drops in recent power rankings.

The Miami Dolphins were defeated by the Philadelphia Eagles 31-17 on Sunday, dropping their record to 5-2 on the season.

Mike McDaniel’s team was clearly impacted by the sheer number of injuries that they had been dealing with before the game and during it as well. However, Miami shouldn’t use that as an excuse, as they had opportunities to win this football game.

With the season ongoing, Touchdown Wire’s Jarrett Bailey has been producing weekly power rankings for the NFL. The Dolphins had been stuck at No. 4 for the past three weeks, but after the loss, they’ve dropped down to No. 5.

Here’s what Bailey had to say about Miami:

“They are incredibly explosive, but that defense is a real problem, and when are they going to win a big game? It isn’t going to be the Broncos or the University of College Tech that they’ll face in January- they are going to have to figure out how to beat a good team when the time comes.”

Ahead of the Dolphins are now the San Francisco 49ers (No. 4), Jacksonville Jaguars (No. 3), Philadelphia Eagles (No. 2) and Kansas City Chiefs (No. 1).

It’s hard to argue with these rankings, and it’s a little troubling that Miami has the No. 1 team in the league, according to Bailey, coming up after this weekend’s battle against the New England Patriots.
