Dolphins cut RB Sony Michel

The Miami native has been released.

The Miami Dolphins are continuing to cut down their roster, as they need to be down to 53 players by 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

Late Monday afternoon, the team announced that they’ve released running back Sony Michel. This move comes as a bit of a surprise, as the Dolphins brought him in to be part of a three-man committee alongside Chase Edmonds and Raheem Mostert.

After releasing ZaQuandre White and Gerrid Doaks as well, Miami still has four backs with Salvon Ahmed and Myles Gaskin still on the roster.

By releasing Michel, the Dolphins save $900,000, but they take on $850,000 in dead cap.
