Training camp is a month away and that’s when players currently on the Miami Dolphins will jockey for spots on the 53-man regular season roster. But moves in recent weeks have changed the outlook for how many spots will be realistically available for the taking.
It’s hard to imagine the two players signed by the Dolphins in June — safety Marcus Maye and defensive lineman Calais Campbell — won’t secure a place on the roster. Another post-draft addition, wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., is also essentially assured a spot.
While there’s still time for the Dolphins to add more, much of the 53-man roster is seemingly etched in pen instead of pencil. Here’s an updated projection of where the roster stands with training camp about a month away:
