Does Notre Dame football control its own destiny with the College Football Playoff?

Win and the Irish are in?

After the Week 2 loss to Northern Illinois, it looked like Notre Dame football was going to be left out of the [autotag]College Football Playoff[/autotag] picture.

Fast forward to Week 10, and the Irish haven’t lost since the upset, and have been playing some of the best football in the country. They’ve risen back up into the top-10 of the US LBM Coaches Poll, and are squarely in the mix for an at-large bid.

We’ll know soon how the CFP committee views Notre Dame, as the first ranking are set to be released next Tuesday. College Football Report posted a graphic on team’s chances to make the tournament, and while the Irish weren’t in the top two tiers, they did make the “control their own destiny” section.

Now the big question is if that is true, and I for one believe that is exactly the case. If Notre Dame wins out, the question should be what seed will they get instead of if they will get in.

Now a loss would throw a wrench into the scenario, especially if it isn’t to a ranked Army team. While there isn’t much room for error for the Irish, but they should be favored in the rest of their regular season games.
