The LeBron James Family Foundation has undertaken many initiatives to help at-risk kids establish a solid foundation for future success. The foundation is especially active in LeBron James’ hometown of Akron, Ohio, where he opened the I Promise school several years ago.
James has never forgotten his roots. He sometimes refers to himself as a “kid from Akron,” and it seems like he wants to make sure every child there will be able to accomplish their goals in life.
On Saturday, he attended the Los Angeles Dodgers’ game versus the Miami Marlins. The Dodgers were having their James bobblehead night, and they defeated Miami to continue a recent hot streak.
Stan Kasten, the president and CEO of the Dodgers, presented James with a check for $100,000 that will go to the superstar’s foundation.

It is always heartwarming to see the rich and powerful pay it forward and help those less fortunate, and it’s something James has done a good job of over the years.
